Sunday Service ( Orro Church)

來諾魯每星期日有到教會去做禮拜.之前黃曉峰醫師就有介紹每一間教會.

我都參加Orro Church 的禮拜.這間教會是用Nauruan language傳道.

All Nauruans 都是基督教,Protestant (佔比較多)and Catholic.

讓我最驚訝的是,他們到教會做禮拜還蠻準時的!!

諾魯人有個特色,他們從來不會準時!!每次參加他們的活動都要等最少一個小時半(這已經是最快了,也可以等到兩到四小時).所以,看起來他們對信仰還蠻有心的.

另外讓我驚訝的是,他們連教會會友唱詩歌也可以很自然分四部來唱!!太勵害了吧!

Good Friday and Easter Day

受難日(Good Friday):耶穌基督愛世人，為世人的罪被釘死在十字架。

復活節(Easter day)：耶穌基督被釘死於十字架，三天後，祂復活了，顯明神的大能，勝過死的權勢，也使人因信耶穌基督得重生，是一個充滿有喜樂，有希望，有信心的人生。

從來沒放過那麼長的假.從星期五放到the following星期二.在諾魯這種假,不知道是高興或擔心,因為真的不知道可以做什麼?還好,他們教會有特別聚會紀念這兩個假日,有去參加.

                              早上5:30special service(每個教會都有舉辦這個禮拜),是紀念 

                   Jesus Christ resurrection. 前面的花是白色, means resurrection.

                                                        完還有提共早餐:肉包和紅豆包,紅茶,果汁和

                                          咖啡!

Able and disabled Center(ADC) in Nauru

Able and disabled Center 是收有身心障礙的小孩及大人(少數),提共他們

same education as others, let them do not feel discriminated.

  ADC有很多program such as music and dance program, 

horticulture and natural science program,sports and health program,

還有手語課程.他們的手語課程也提共給家長,幫助家長跟小孩的溝通.

 在諾魯認識了一位朋友Winnie. 她今年開始協助ADC.我問她是不是有機會去參觀;

她說她會找時間帶我去.所以她就安排了一天帶我去,剛好那一天ADC也有舉辦活動,

是慶祝Easter Day.

Youth Choir Competition

諾魯人真喜歡唱歌而且他們的歌聲it is really 太好聽,美妙的歌聲,真像我們台灣原住民的歌聲.他們也經常歌唱比賽.

這次有參加到他們的"Youth Choir Competition".參加者是from

World Water Day 3/22

World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.

Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. In 2013, in reflection of the International Year of Water Cooperation, World Water Day is also dedicated to the theme of cooperation around water and is coordinated by UNESCO in collaboration with UNECE and UNDESA on behalf of UN-Water.

在Centennial Hall 有舉辦活動 celebrating World Water Day. 有Infant Schools 的小朋友來表演.

Baby immunization

在 Public Center 剛好有機會跟負責Baby Clinic的 nurse Elena 到每個District去做 Baby Immunization. She has a notebook which 有記錄每個小孩子需要的vaccines.

.諾魯媽媽的服務實在太好了!我問 Elena, 她們都不會帶自己的小孩來Center receive vaccine嗎?她說少數,所以才會
這樣做.For my surprise is 有些小朋友才住在Clinic的對面,這樣諾魯媽媽也懶的把小孩帶來immunization!!!

Home visiting

Every Wednesday 會跟Public Health Center Avanoa do home visiting ;最主要是去探訪那些disabled people ,不方便來Center 的病人.

Avanoa 幫病人量血壓,check血糖 and check if there's medication to be refilled. And I help checking the medication that patients is taking and resolving some of the complaints.

350. Org Climate Change Action Day 3/2

350. Org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis.

350 means climate safety. To preserve our planet, scientists tell us to we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 392 parts per million to below 350 ppm.







Nauru National Youth Council 在這天舉辦了一整天的活動"Pacific warriors 350.Org Climate Action day".

我跟技術團Tyler, William and Francis去參加在 Civic Conference Hall 舉辦的一個 "Children's recycle clothing competition". 他們用可以recycle 的東西來做服裝.

來諾魯學開車

我從來沒開過車in my life!!!

Before coming to Nauru, 大家都recommended me 趕快學開車, because the weather here in Nauru 實在太熱了而且to avoid those famous nauruan 's dogs 追你.但那時候在台灣沒時間, besides太趕了!
到了這邊,大家還是recommended me最好要學開車而且會比較方便. So, 就把學開車這個任務交給技術團的William.

                                                                                一開時,先到Capelle旁邊的空地學;在那邊繞了幾圈就開時往馬路開了!!!!
學了一個禮拜就去考駕照. 這邊只考筆試.考試題目不會you can ask the police and 他們會幫你answer the question! 考完police沒看考卷就跟我說:"Ok, you got the license!!"就叫我去繳錢辦一些手續就好了. It's so funny!!我就這樣拿到了my driver license!!!來這邊沒兩個禮拜就開始開車上下班. 諾魯真是個好地方for學開車.這是我來這邊第一個收穫!!
