Every year on 17th May Nauru celebrates Constitution Day, commemorating the signing of their Constitution in 1968, the year they gained Independence. That day is marked by sporting competitions all around the small island nation.
The Constitution Day Athletics programme is a festival of sprinting and is, in effect, the seventh day of their National Championships. On six other days in April/May competitions are dedicated to all track events longer than 100m, jumps and throws.
